Bell and Buckner Football Camp, Day 1

Let me start by saying this camp is dollar-for-dollar the best value. Just before the pictures I have included some background on the camp, and why I feel it is the best thing for Noah.

(rest of this entry is after the quote...)

If you train hard, you'll not only be hard, you'll be hard to beat.

- Herschel Walker

This is our first year attending, and based on Noah's success I decided to put him up an age group. I didn't feel that 10 and under would give him the development he really needs, so he's with the junior high and high school kids. With there being no contact, he isn't in danger of getting crushed. However I was still a bit nervous at first, but Noah has stepped up to the challenge.

If you are not familiar with the Bell and Buckner Football Symposium Camp, it is a camp unlike any in the nation. "Why" you ask? The reason is that they're actually more concerned with your child leaving the camp as a better person than a better football player. Being tired and aggravated of what they see as a lack of character in today's athletes, Marion Bell (retired, Steelers) and Brentson Buckner (retired, Panthers), at the urging and help of their pastor, Terrell Murphy, set out to create a camp that taught young men to be role models as well as to improve their football skills.

As I said, this is our first year attending, and we are just blown away. The football instruction is top notch. And what started (in our eyes) as a "bonus", the character development has really turned into the star for me. I can't say enough good things about the group of men who are leading and volunteering at this camp.

We WILL be attending next year! (Click on a thumbnail image to bring up a larger version, and see descriptions.)

One of the 10s of 40 yard sprints they ran in the morning. As you can see, he is a bit small compared to the others.
The afternoon got easier for him.
Full out sprint, he is one fast white boy.
Noah receives instruction from Coach Buckner (with whistle) on linebacker technique.
Not the greatest hops in the world, but he can get up and get the ball when needed. This catch was during the linebacker drills.
